Sage and onion stuffy

Ingredients

4 large onions
12 sage leaves
4 cups of  breadcrumbs
1/4 butter
salt and pepper to taste
1 egg

Peel and boil onions, simmering for 5 minutes. Now chop very fine, add bread, seasoning and butter, and work them all together with 2 egg yolks.. Remember to finely chop the sage (sage is one of the strongest herbs around!). Transfer the stuffing to a buttered shallow baking dish. Bake, covered, in middle of oven for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake until browned (this might take another 15-20 minutes).
